The Obama presidency began with a vow to close the Guantanamo Bay detention facility, and it may come to a close with a unilateral executive action that aims to fulfill that promise. In the intervening years, the United States and the world have seen the rise of new terrorist threats and the continuation of a long war against radical Islamic jihadism. In the context of our current struggle against terrorism, Senator Tom Cotton will discuss the short-sightedness of the Obama Administration’s fixation on closing Guantanamo and the importance of maintaining a safe, secure, and humane detention facility for unlawful combatants.
