There are four fundamental issues that China's leaders must face as they grapple with their nation's new global political power: Economic performance, social stability, leadership cohesion, and foreign policy impact. How the PRC's collective leadership answers these issues will determine its success at home and will also contribute to either friction or comity in Asia in the coming years.
Join us as long-time "China hand," Ambassador Frank Lavin, offers his ample insight on these and other issues.
Ambassador Lavin's most recent government service was as Undersecretary of Trade in the U.S. Department of Commerce, where he was lead negotiator for China. He has also served as U.S. Ambassador to Singapore (2001-2005) and in 2010 he was Chairman of the Steering Committee for the USA Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo. He now lives in Hong Kong where he serves as Chairman, Export Now.
