After years of losses, the United States Postal Service is on the brink of insolvency. According
to the Postmaster General, the independent agency has only about one week’s worth of cash on hand, and will be unable to make a $5.5 billion payment owed to the U.S. Treasury to fund retiree health care. Some want to kick the can down the road, hoping that the problem will go away. Representative Darrell Issa disagrees, saying that firm action to force comprehensive restructuring of the Postal Service is needed. At stake is not only the future of mail delivery, but also tens of billions of taxpayer dollars.
Join us as House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa discusses this postal crisis and how to solve it.
