Revisiting the Reagan Vision: A Simpler Tax Code for the 21st Century

This video is no longer available online.

When Ronald Reagan signed the Tax Reform Act of 1986 into law he said, “Fair and simpler for most Americans, this is a tax code designed to take us into a future of technological invention and economic achievement, one that will keep America competitive and growing into the 21st century.” That was more than 25 years ago and since then brackets and loopholes have been added, making our tax system more complex than before. Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Dan Coats (R-IN) are revisiting Reagan’s vision for simplification. The two senators are working together on a serious effort to streamline, simplify and modernize our complicated tax system in a way that will encourage economic growth and make America more competitive.
