Afghanistan faces multiple challenges in the coming years in defeating the Taliban-led insurgency, reforming the government, fostering economic growth, rebuilding an infrastructure that has been shattered by more than three decades of war and restoring the rule of law. Afghan President Hamid Karzai has traveled to Washington to consult with top officials of the Obama Administration about how to proceed on these and other issues.
Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Afghanistan’s former Foreign Minister and the chief challenger in Afghanistan’s 2009 presidential elections, will assess the current situation in Afghanistan and discuss how to build a peaceful, secure and prosperous future for his country.
