In the past 12
months, the federal government has laid $1.2 trillion in the name
of stimulus, $700 billion for the Troubled Assets Relief Program,
and over $400 billion for the Omnibus spending bill in debt on
future generations of America. Yet there has been no effort,
once the economy recovers, to put the federal government on the
path to balancing the budget and reducing the federal debt.
Senator McCain will discuss his own stimulus plan, the federal
government's spending spree and an alternative vision for the
proper role of the federal government to spur economic growth and
to refrain from wasteful federal spending highlighted by the
thousands of earmarks in the Omnibus spending bill.
