Location: The Heritage Foundation's Allison Auditorium
On July 25, the Interfaith Stewardship Alliance (ISA) will
publicly release its new Call to Truth, Prudence and the
Protection of the Poor: An Evangelical Response to Global
Warming. Endorsed by more than 100 leading evangelical
scholars, theologians, scientists, economists, pastors and others,
this paper is a direct response to the Evangelical Climate
Initiative's "Call to Action" released earlier this year. The ISA
paper lays forth solid scientific, economic, ethical, and
theological arguments against mandatory carbon-emissions reductions
called for by the ECI to mitigate global warming, identifies
unintended consequences that would be of serious harm to the
world's poor, and articulates a reasoned approach to environmental
stewardship.
The Interfaith Stewardship Alliance is a coalition of
religious leaders, clergy, theologians, scientists, academics, and
other policy experts committed to bringing a proper and balanced
Biblical view of stewardship to the critical issues of environment
and development. The Cornwall Declaration on Environmental
Stewardship forms the guiding philosophy of the ISA. As part of its
recently launched "Cornwall Network," the coalition is working with
numerous churches, educational institutions, and other entities
around the world to promote the principles of the Cornwall
Declaration on these critical public policy issues.
