Why do Americans, and particularly westerners, feel less
free?
What happened to our Constitutional liberties and the rule of
law?
In Warriors for the West, William Perry Pendley addresses
the fundamental principles and personal concerns held dear by the
pioneering spirits of America's West. He puts human faces on
westerners' historic and often precedent-setting fights against
environmental laws, "lying and cheating" bureaucrats,
ethically-challenged lawyers as well as attacks on logging, mining
and energy exploration. Additionally, Pendley examines how the
government becomes a bullying bad neighbor ready to criminalize
legitimate actions in the guise of "environmental protection" or to
seize "private property" for "public use" without "just
compensation." Every American who cares about freedom will gain a
clearer insight into these ongoing threats to our liberty.
William Perry Pendley is President and Chief Legal Officer of
the Mountain States Legal Foundation. He has litigated against the
United States at the U.S. Supreme Court and before numerous federal
Courts of Appeal. A former Marine officer, Capitol Hill lawyer, and
Reagan Administration official, Pendley is also author of War
on the West: Government Tyranny on America's Great Frontier
and It Takes a Hero: The Grassroots Battle Against
Environmental Oppression.
