Location: The Heritage Foundation's Lehrman Auditorium
Two large hurricanes - Katrina and Rita - have put local, state
and federal officials under the spotlight, raising a critical
question: Should the role of the federal government be to augment
local and state disaster response resources, or to lead the
preparation and response efforts? Should the military have a more
central role in rescue and recovery? These central questions, and
others, will be discussed by a governor who took a leadership role
both in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and during all phases of
the response to Hurricane Rita.
Join us as Governor Rick Perry of Texas shares his views on the
future of the federal role in emergency response.
