After a turbulent decade, the Balkans is, again, at a
crossroads. As the remaining status issues in the region advance
towards their resolution this fall, the challenge will be to find
new energy and strategies to help the Balkans make its final steps
towards normalization and democratization. On the eve of these
processes, Dr. Vlado Bučkovski, the Prime Minister of
Macedonia, will give his views on how his country's success in
resolving constitutional and inter-ethnic issues may be used as a
model for the region and democratization processes elsewhere.
