Heritage Event: The 2005 Quadrennial Defense Review: The View from the Pentagon

Read Related WebMemo Event Summary

Location: The Heritage Foundation's Lehrman Auditorium

Every four years, the Department of Defense, as required by law, conducts a review of its forces, resources, and programs, and presents the findings of its Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) to the President and Congress. The review provides a basic strategy for addressing such critical issues as transformation, budgetary constraints, and acquisition priorities for the next 20 years. While every QDR is important, the Global War on Terrorism and the Pentagon's ongoing transformation efforts ensure that the decisions made in the 2005 Review will have generational ramifications.

Join us as The Honorable Ryan Henry, Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, gives us an introduction to the 2005 QDR process and the main themes to be covered by this major strategic planning document.
