"Republican Sen. Tom Coburn came prepared to Samuel Alito's confirmation hearings with the first-ever clause-by-clause examination of the complete Constitution," The Heritage Guide to the Constitution, reports Human Events Online.

A Reuters photographer snapped a photo (above) of the Heritage Guide on the Coburn's desk during the Senate judiciary committee confirmation hearings for judge Samuel Alito.

Sen. Coburn received the book from Heritage's Matt Spalding, one of its editors. "We discussed its contents for some time, and how it might be useful for him during the hearings," Spalding told Human Events. Other members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, as well as key staff, also have copies.
