Charlene "Charli" Coon is senior policy analyst for energy and environment at The Heritage Foundation. In her position, Coon researches and writes on all aspects of energy and environmental policy, from the debate over tapping oil reserves in Alaska to the causes behind the electrical shortages in California.

Before coming to Heritage, Coon was a research and budget analyst for Republicans in the Illinois state assembly. She also worked for House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., the House Commerce Committee and the House Civil Service Subcommittee.

Coon received her law degree from Loyola University in Chicago in 1992. She received a master's degree in public administration from the University of Illinois-Springfield in 1976 and is working on master's degree in environmental law at George Washington University. She holds a bachelor's degree from Arizona State University.

Originally from Chillicothe, Ill., Coon now lives in Washington, D.C.
