Assistant Regional Manager for Major Gift Planning

The Assistant Regional Manager of Major Gift Planning is responsible for closing new annual gifts and meeting budgeted contributions income each year, and to do so by building stronger relationships with donors so that income will increase in the future. The assistant manager meets with donors and planned giving prospects in their respective regions, builds relationships with those donors, solicits those donors, and then stewards those donors in such a way that makes them more likely to renew and increase support in future years. Responsibilities require traveling 60-70% of the time, and working from a home office located either in California, Texas, or the New England region.

Job Duties:
•Meet both fundraising and relationship-building goals of region by managing a caseload of 200 donors and prospects within a specific region.
•Design and implement strategies to identify key prospects; discover the various motivating factors behind donors’ support to increase their involvement in Heritage; and then successfully solicit members to increase their contributions to Heritage.

•Communicate with donors through personal visits, telephone calls, and correspondence to increase our Members’ appreciation for the importance and impact of Heritage’s work.

•Provide input on department projects and strategies to increase income.

•Maintain a high level of knowledge about the conservative movement and Heritage’s needs and interests.

•Work closely with Assistant Director of Major Gift Planning to maximize potential of region served.

•Complete call reports and enter information into database after each donor contact.

•Help organize regional events; and identify donors who need solicitation from members of the Heritage Senior Leadership Team.

    At least 2 years in fundraising, planned giving, sales, or marketing.
  • Skills:

    • Understand and support the Heritage mission and vision for America, and the department's goals and objectives
    • Excellent communication skills; highly develop verbal skills; ability to request and conduct one-on-one meetings with donors & prospects and make solicitations.
    • High degree of knowledge of policy issues and conservative movement.
    • Ability and willingness to travel 60-70% of time on the road, with remaining time working in home office setting.
    • Ability to utilize the phone effectively to make contact with donors and set up meetings.
    • Ability to effectively make solicitations and close gifts, primarily with older donors and prospects.
    • Familiarity with the use of technology in working remotely (WebEx, Raiser’s Edge, Bluetooth)
    • Thrives in a competitive, yet conservative, environment.
