Your contributions do make a difference! Without you, The Heritage Foundation would not have been able to accomplish the following:

  • Ever since 1982, when Heritage published “High Frontier,” a study making the case for missile defense, we have been at the forefront of the issue. The major obstacle to deployment was the ABM Treaty, which outlawed these defenses for America. Because of Heritage’s work with the Senate and the Bush administration, this obstacle to America’s defenses was buried on June 13, 2002, and this nation became a safer place to live.

  • Thanks to a recent Supreme Court decision we may be seeing greater choice in education. School choice was upheld this past summer, but the battle was not an easy one. Heritage’s moot court program helped to prepare the school choice attorneys for their presentation to the Supreme Court. We came away with a 5-4 win, and kids came away with a better chance of getting a good education.

  • As you probably know, the 1996 welfare reforms achieved unprecedented success, cutting welfare rolls in half and moving millions of Americans into productive work.

What you might not know is that Heritage supplied the architecture for that historic legislation. And before it was enacted, we brought together legislative allies, especially among freshman members of the House and Senate, and forged links among scores of conservative organizations.

  • During the Bush administration’s transition, Heritage experts served on advisory commissions in every major policy area. We also recommended hundreds of people for key positions in the administration. In fact, the administration recruited several of our most capable staff. Among them were our Distinguished Fellow Elaine Chao, now secretary of labor, and our Senior Fellow Kay James, director of the Office of Personnel Management.

  • When the newly elected president proposed major tax cuts, White House officials relied on our Center for Data Analysis to produce sophisticated revenue projections. Our work was so reliable that when reporters sought information on the president’s tax plan from the White House, officials there began referring reporters to Heritage for details.

People join Heritage because they understand that America has been drifting off course for more than 50 years. They believe, as we do, that decades of failed liberal policies need conservative ideas to reform them. That’s why more than 200,000 individuals, private foundations and corporations have joined Heritage. And they stay with us, year after year, because they share our unswerving commitment to build an America where freedom, opportunity, prosperity and civil society flourish.

If these are your ideals, I invite you to help make them a reality by joining the most influential conservative organization in America. Heritage is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization, so your donations are tax-deductible.
