Senator's Comments: ?I oppose a constitutional amendment that would deny same-sex couples the rights and protections that other Americans enjoy, and I am deeply concerned by this effort to use the Constitution to take away the rights of individuals. Sadly, this is exactly what the President has proposed today. The national conversation on this issue is still evolving and we should not move forward with a Constitutional change that would stop this discussion dead in its tracks.?
