Current Legislative Activity
Early January 2007, a constitutional amendment defining marriage between a man and a woman has been introduced by Rep. Gloria C. Vaughn (HJR2 Marriage Defined, CA). It was defeated in the committee on a party line vote.
Of Note
In February 2004, the State Attorney General issued an opinion stating that marriage is limited to a man and a woman in New Mexico.
