Heritage Foundation Mourns Death of Caspar Weinberger

Washington, March 28, 2006Former U.S. Attorney General Edwin Meese III, now the Ronald Reagan Distinguished Fellow in Public Policy at The Heritage Foundation, issued the following statement on the death of former Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger:

“Cap Weinberger was a great leader of our country and a close personal friend. He devoted his life to public service, from his days as an Army officer in World War II to his outstanding work as secretary of defense. He led the efforts of President Reagan to rebuild our Armed Forces during the 1980s, and played a great part in achieving victory in the Cold War.”
