WASHINGTON, JAN. 7, 2008—Heritage Foundation President Ed Feulner today issued the following statement on the death of Lyun Joon Kim, founder of South Korea’s Hanyang University and longtime friend of the think tank:

"Through his brilliance as both an educator and as a musical composer, Chairman Kim sought to bring people together to live, learn and work for peace and freedom in all aspects of their lives. Hundreds of thousands of people from all over the globe have benefited from his vision and entrepreneurial drive.  I count myself fortunate to have been one of those people... to have had the opportunity to serve as a visiting professor at Hanyang University for two decades.

"Around the globe, wherever I go, I find Hanyang alumni are leaders in their chosen fields. But they would have never achieved so much without Kim's drive and vision.

"We at The Heritage Foundation are proud to have formally entered into a sister institution relationship with Hanyang University many years ago. We are proud that, for decades now, our institutions and leaders have shared the vision of a closer Korea-U.S. relationship and have worked cooperatively to achieve that goal. Chairman Kim was a guiding light behind that effort and his spirit will continue to inspire all of us for many years to come."
