The Long War is far from being won.  Al Qaeda remains entrenched in the tribal regions of the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, seeking to export global terror.  Organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah maintain worldwide networks.  Transnational gangs thrive on smuggling drugs, people, arms and money.  At home, more than 19 terrorist conspiracies aimed at U.S. shores have been thwarted since 9/11.  There is no room for complacency in addressing the enduring challenges of keeping America safe, free, and prosperous in the face of transnational threats aimed at our nation.

Kenneth L. Wainstein, the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, will discuss the current efforts of the Administration in combating terrorism, and what must be done to defeat the future threats.
