Foreign aid has become a pillar of United States’ foreign policy. Through its National Security Strategy, the Administration highlights the goal of helping to unleash the productive potential of individuals in all nations, adding that sustained growth and poverty reduction is impossible without the right national policies.

This renewed focus on foreign aid is embodied by the Administration’s doubling of foreign assistance, the establishment of the Millennium Challenge Corporation and recent G-8 commitments to reducing extreme poverty. One institution viewed as playing a key role in this effort – and which has embarked on its own internal reform effort to enhance its effectiveness – is the World Bank Group.

The Heritage Foundation is honored to host Paul Wolfowitz, President of the World Bank Group, who will discuss the World Bank Group’s major goals under his new leadership, including strengthening the fight against corruption and the Bank’s role in helping the poor.
