The Obama Administration has rechristened the Strategic Economic Dialogue with China as the Strategic and Economic Dialogue and intends to emphasize different topics, such as climate change.  The new S&ED meets only once annually, with the 2009 meetings scheduled for July 27-28 in Washington.  That puts a good deal of pressure on each round to at least create conditions for improved bilateral relations.  Our panel will discuss trade, finance, the environment and other issues.  Can the S&ED accomplish something worthwhile or is it much ado about nothing?
