The 2006 U.S. Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) highlights the increasingly vital role of the U.S.-Japan alliance in maintaining security and stability in the 21st Century. The importance of strengthening and developing a joint strategy for the alliance is even more crucial given the rapidly changing security environment in Northeast Asia – China’s military modernization and economic growth, North Korea’s continued intransigence, and South Korean and Taiwanese efforts to exert greater independence in the region. Moreover, the ongoing global war on terror continues to present challenges. Join us for a discussion of these important U.S.-Japan alliance topics.
