In a long war, there can be no trade-off between security and economics. Economic growth and prosperity are at the very crux of a country’s security and well-being. Throughout 2006, in anticipation of the 5th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, The Heritage Foundation is hosting a series to evaluate the Administration and Congress’ efforts to restructure the country’s national security system. This meeting will analyze the federal government’s economic policies and how these policies have been impacted by national security policy. Have national security concerns and strategy helped or hindered economic growth over the past five years? Can the U.S. maintain a free market and free trade amid today’s clandestine threats? “Grading” the Administration and Congress will be Dr. Larry Lindsey, top economic advisor to President George W. Bush in the aftermath of 9/11 and architect of the Bush tax cuts, and Dr. Jim Miller, a Cabinet fixture and expert counselor on the budget and government regulation for President Ronald Reagan. Join us for a panel discussion examining the state of America’s economic might and security.
