Terri Schiavo’s death was a deeply personal tragedy. Yet it also became an emotionally charged national debate over personhood and politics, family and federalism. There seems to be no shortage of questions and no easy answers. Who may decide who lives and who dies? What are the proper roles of our state and national governments? How should society protect life while respecting the wishes of individuals and their families?
