Location: The Heritage Foundation's Lehrman Auditorium The detainee camp at Guantanamo Bay has come under withering fire recently – from the United Nations, major publications, and several commentators. Our panelists have been asked to assess what does indeed lie behind all the recent headlines. Tom Bock, National Commander of the American Legion, has just completed a tour of the Guantanamo facilities. Steve Short spent last year in Guantanamo as CSM for the Joint Task Force, CSM of the Joint Detention Operations Group and, briefly, Superintendent of Camp Delta. And Jennifer Daskal of Human Rights Watch will discuss her organization’s concerns about the treatment of detainees.
