Co-Sponsored by the LibForAll Foundation and the Nahdlatul Ulama Supreme Council
The LibForAll Foundation is launching the English edition of the tremendously successful The Illusion of an Islamic State. As noted in its preface, the book, produced under the guidance of the late former President of Indonesia Abdurrahman Wahid and in partnership with The Wahid Institute, Gerakan Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, and the Maarif Institute “represents a landmark achievement in the field of counter-radicalization.” It “demonstrates how an alliance of moderate Muslim leaders can effectively isolate, and discredit, the ideology of religious hatred, supremacy and violence that underlies and animates terrorism.” Mustofa Bisri (“Gus Mus”), who sits on LibForAll’s Board of Advisors, will discuss the book in his opening remarks, and our panel will explore the implication of its arguments, methods and success in the continuing battle of ideas both at home and abroad.
