Previously, Fitzgerald worked as lectures manager for nearly four years at Heritage.

Fitzgerald, who holds a bachelor's degree in government and politics, earned a master's in international commerce and policy from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. She lives in Alexandria, Va.

Before joining Heritage in 1997, Fitzgerald served as project manager at Americans For Tax Reform, a Washington-based watchdog group.
