Daniella Markheim is the Jay Van Andel Senior Analyst in Trade Policy at The Heritage Foundation's Center for International Trade and Economics.

Markheim specializes in international trade and monetary theory, comparative economic systems, and international financial management. She has extensive experience developing economic models for studying single-country and global trade and investment policy, as well as the financial strengths and vulnerabilities of specific countries and business sectors.

Before joining Heritage in 2005, Markheim worked seven years in the economics division at Joint Warfare Analysis Center, with the last four as Senior Economist and Project Leader.

Before that, she taught micro- and macro-economics principles at Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Chandler, Ariz. She has also served as a consultant to the World Bank, where she designed and built a database for a study of economic productivity in Eastern Europe, and conducted econometric analysis to evaluate productivity trends for five countries.

From 2003-2004, she served as a board member for the Society of Government Economists. In June 2001, she presented her paper at the 69th MORS Symposium at the U.S Naval Academy, "A Global General Equilibrium Framework for Quantifying the International Economic Consequences of Managing Conflict Through Economic Statecraft."

Markheim also has authored several journal articles, including "A Note on Predicting the Trade Effects of Economic Integration and Other Preferential Trade Agreements: An Assessment," in the Journal of Common Market Studies in March 1994. 

Markheim graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor's degree in economics in 1991, and earned her master's degree there in 1994.
