The fellow will report to the Vice President for Domestic and Economic Policy Studies, Stuart Butler, or to the Director of The Heritage Foundation’s Center for Health Policy Studies, Robert Moffit.

During the fellowship, the fellow will work on one or more projects. These will be agreed upon with Dr. Butler prior to the fellowship and must be compatible with the work and goals of the Foundation. The projects typically will include research and writing, including writing that may be published by The Heritage Foundation (provided the writing meets the Foundation’s standards and is relevant to its planned publications). Dr. Butler or Dr. Moffit will supervise the fellow’s research and writing. In addition, the fellow will work with analysts in the Foundation’s Department of Domestic and Economic Policy Studies. The fellow will play a full part in the research work and all activities of the Foundation.

The fellowship is open to students from Harvard Medical School or the School of Public Health. The fellowship is also open to students with a focus on health policy from the John F Kennedy School of Government and from other departments in the university.

The fellow will have the title “Graduate Fellow.”

This graduate fellowship is made possible by a contribution to the Heritage Foundation by Robert T. Lewit, M.D., Harvard College, '59, and Harvard Medical School, '63.

Stipend

The fellow will receive a stipend of $2,500 in installments during the fellowship in addition to the housing and travel allowance.

Housing and Travel Allowance

The fellow must reside in the Washington, DC, area during the fellowship, and must be available for 40 hours per week at The Heritage Foundation for the full length of the fellowship.

The fellow will receive an allowance of $2,000 towards travel and housing costs during the fellowship. The Foundation does have a limited supply of housing for graduate fellows and undergraduate interns in the Heritage building. The allowance can be used towards the cost of that housing or for other housing chosen by the fellow.
