APPLYING TO THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Applications should demonstrate strong research and writing talents, excellent communication skills, and the inquisitiveness to undertake various research, writing, administrative, and computer projects.  All interns are paid at the rate of $7 per hour.     

Spring Internships: Deadline November 1st
The Heritage Foundation's Spring Intern Program begins in January and ends in early May.  During the spring term, Heritage accepts approximately 50 interns. Interns may work part-time (a minimum of 24 hours per week), to be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Spring 2010 Intern Program schedule: Monday, January 11, 2010 to Friday, May 7, 2010

Summer Internships: Deadline February 1st
The Heritage Foundation's Summer Intern Program begins in June and ends in early August. The Heritage Foundation accepts approximately 70 interns during the summer. All interns during the summer must work full time.

Summer 2010 Intern Program schedule: Monday, June 7, 2010 to Friday, August 13, 2010

Fall Internships: Deadline July 1st
The Heritage Foundation's Fall Intern Program begins in late August and ends in December. During the fall term, Heritage will accept approximately 50 interns. Interns may work part-time (a minimum of 24 hours per week), to be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Fall 2010 Intern Program schedule: Monday, August 30, 2010 to Friday, December 10, 2010.

Internship Requirements
Summer applicants must be rising college juniors or older; fall and spring applicants must be college juniors or older. Recent college graduates, master's students, and law students are encouraged to apply. International students who are authorized to be employed in the United States are eligible for Heritage internships.

Application Process
To apply for an internship at The Heritage Foundation:

  1. Complete the online application, which includes a current resume and short writing samples.
  2. Mail an official transcript directly from your university and two letters of recommendation from college professors or employers to the following address:
